Deinonychus - A quick anatomy Guide
ibelievepracticemakesperfect:
foervraengd:
Deinonychus is the original dinosaur that was incorrectly named “velociraptor” in the Jurassic Park movies.
The Velociraptor is in reality not bigger than a turkey.
Deinonychus is much larger and more popular among artists and dinosaur-fans, alongside with the T-Rex.
It was quick and agile, probably lived in small packs, and some studies suggests...

uh...hey guys...
madeleineishere:
I ended up in the Emergency Room yesterday…
I fainted at work (reason unknown) and fell to the floor- hitting my head and neck in an awkward position which knocked me unconscious for a bit~ I was rushed to the ER in an ambulance on a back stretcher (most uncomfortable ride ever) BUT at least the paramedics gave me a pink neck brace!
So- Um…Now I have a big Hospital bill to...

Ligne Claire: Inspiration vs. Imitation
loish:
kecky415:
I read this last night it is such a good review for anyone who is trying to become a real artist! (like myself!!!)
this pretty much encapsulates my views on the matter! might be helpful to those who are worried about inspiration in either their own or other people’s work.
and of course, personality...

Use the right tools for the job
amazinglyartisticadvice:
Which means, pretty much, the following:
Don’t use substandard paper. There is archival quality paper which is very inexpensive, take the time to search it out.
Use the media that works best for your idea- Pencil and paper are not always appropriate.
Don’t use tools that are not meant to be used for what you are using them for, unless you’re going for a certain look....

Alright, I’ve already got all this stuff bookmarked, but I figure it would be pretty good for anyone to have the resources I’ve gathered all in one place so here I go!

Or rather, let's talk about style as a distortion.
amazinglyartisticadvice:
Because that’s essentially what style is: The systematic distortion of people and objects as drawn by a particular artist.
Most of the examples I am going to present you with are going to be comic book artists or cartoonists, since this is where such distortions are the most obvious.
However, there are some notable classical artists with an immediately recognizable...

Tip of the Day #24
inmyownlalaland:
If the thing you are trying to draw is moving around, try to choose one of their poses and stick with it. When they move around they are bound to go back to the same pose for at least a second so you can take that time to take a mental photograph of them. If you aren’t that good at memorization, watch them and try to memorize them in that pose several times before you draw...

This week: Balloon Shape. This entry isn’t about what you probably think it’s going to be about. I suspect you think I’m either going to talk about the various shapes of balloons you can use in your comics, (round, cloud, square, unfurling scroll, etc.) or about how to compose your balloons within your comic panels. Neither of those would be worth discussing...

So I can’t put this as an ask because I used up my limit for the hour to check to see if what you had said was true.
It was, unfortunately.
There’s also another limit on the asks. Apparently if you send an ask with just one character it will get eaten. Though you can keep sending asks up until you hit five asks that haven’t been eaten.
In all...

Comic Book Grammar and Tradition
comicreference:
by Nate Piekos
Special thanks to Todd Klein, Clem Robins, Scott Allie and Jason Arthur for their time and contributions.
Comic book lettering has some grammatical and aesthetic traditions that are unique. What follows is a list that every letterer eventually commits to his/her own mental reference file. The majority of these points are established tradition, sprinkled...

ArtsyPoses - Relatively new, but very cool. The 30 second drawing tool seems to be glitching a little but that could be my computer being a dumb. Lots of unique poses and they’re looking to expand to other body types (if you read the FAQ they even said there are too many fit models).
PoseManiacs - Everybody knows this one! Great poses, you can...
