I don’t understand why so many people think that starting with art in anime style is bad…
The very first time you try out Cartoon: It will look like shit
The very first time you try out Anime: It will look like shit
The very first time you try out Realism: It will ALSO look like shit
If you practice a lot on Cartoon: It will improve
If you practice a lot on Anime: It will ALSO improve
If you practice a lot on Realism: It will improve
After years of drawing Cartoon: It will look great
After years of drawing Anime: It will look great
After years of drawing Realism: It will look great
“But if you start with realism, your anime/cartoon style will look better.”
I’ve seen a lot of GOOD realism artist that actually SUCK at drawing in anime or cartoonish style. You will not instantly be able to draw in anime just because you can draw a realistic face. In order to master a style, you need to practice it. Then you have to practice mixing different styles as well.EVERYTHING
TAKES
TIME
AND PRACTICE.
Draw in whatever style you want. But don’t blame on the “genre of style” just because you cannot instantly draw in a different style at first attempt.
